As Halloween gets closer I’m pulling out my fave nail tutorials; if you haven’t checked out my ‘Bloody Drippy’, ‘PSSST Did You Hear That?’, and ‘Sweet &Scary Jack-O-Lantern’ nail tutorials you should go and take a peek they were super fun to create and do. My all time fave Halloween movie (which I’m not even sure if it counts as a Halloween movie) is ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ so why not make a Jack Skellington inspired nail tutorial!
“Jack Skellington FTW!”
Step 1: Base Coat
Like I’ve mentioned before I don’t think it’s 100% necessary unless you are someone who uses a lot of dark polished often and are trying to avoid yellowing nails.
Step 2: Base Colour
Black and white polishes in my opinion work best, since that’s how jack is portrayed in the movie. I used white polish on my thumb, and middle finger as the base colour for the skull and tux. Black polish was used on my index, ring, and pinky fingers for the pinstripe and cliff.
TIP: A ‘Glow in the Dark’ polish would also be a cool alternative to white just for added effects.
Step 3: Skull
Drop some black polish/black acrylic paint onto a piece of paper or using a striper make 2 big black eyes in an ‘evil’ expression ,add 2 small shirt lines for nostrils, and the signature wide Jack Skellington stitched smile.
Step 4: Pinstripe
Drop some white polish onto a piece of paper or with a striper make vertical white stripes on Index and pinky fingers
Step 5: Tux
With a dotting tool (or something dull and small) create 3 small dots in black polish.
One centered at the end of the nail at the tip and 2 dots near the cuticle on each side (basically in a triangle form)
Step 6: Tux
Join the 3 dots with a line from the centered dot at the tip to the dots at the tip to the dots at the cuticle in a ‘V’ shape and fill in the sides of the ‘V’ with black polish
Step 7: Bowtie
Make a small ‘X’ near the cuticle joining the ends of the ‘X’ to make a bowtie, along with 2-3 small dots as buttons.
Step 8: Tim Burton Cliff
To make the moon drop some white, orange, and yellow polish onto a piece of paper and mix, then with the back of an eraser from a pencil make a large circle (Or use a Big sized dotting tool)
To make the signature ‘Tim Burton’ swirl use a toothpick/dotting tool and in a tapping motion make the swirl going over the bottom of the ‘moon’ a little bit and making a thicker line near the end.(It makes more sense in the pictures) I used grey to contrast the black background (to make gray you can add some white polish to some black polish if you don't have a gray polish)
This part may seem a bit more challenging but don’t be too stressed about being perfect it’s about having fun.
Finish everything off with a top coat and TADAH! Jack Skellington nails FTW!
Remember that it is all about making it your own you can very easily just stick to the jack skellington face and black nails or many other combination just have fun with it!
